I'm finding that I'm truly enjoying painting still life pieces, especially towards the end of a long winter in Minnesota. It's nice to have the option and luxury of working from life in a comfortable studio after enduring the cold this winter. I stopped by the market the morning I started this piece to find what would inspire me today. It turned out it was a vibrant mixed bouquet. There's nothing like the colors and textures of the flower display to inspire one.
Once I arrived at the studio and started painting I was very inspired by the movement in the fabric of this piece. It was a complete rush to see and paint all the subtle tempurature notes as the form of the cloth wrapped itself around the pitcher. There is certainly nothing boring about painting a still life! :)
